MUSIGA To Form Hall Of Fame For Musicians -Bessa Simons Reveals

Vice president for the Musicians Union of Ghana, ‘MUSIGA’ Bessa Simons has disclosed that, there are plans of forming a Hall of Fame for legendary musicians in the country.

He reacted to a question on Happy FM’s Showbiz Xtra with Doctar Cann, about whether or not MUSIGA is planning to create a Hall of Fame for legendary Ghanaian musicians, since most of them are dying.

“We have said it, it is not easy but it will happen. Before Jewel’s death, we had a lot of people we documented so when the right time comes we will do it. But we need to get some vital information to continue. There are a lot of them who are part of this initiative,” he indicated.

Nonetheless, commenting on Jewel Ackah’s demise, he cited that Ghana may not get a musician like Jewel Ackah again.

“We may not get a musician like Jewel Ackah again. Jewel Ackah was a big giant. We may not get his kind again,” he stated.

Jewel Ackah died on Friday April 27 and was laid to rest in Axim, his hometown in the Western Region after the burial service in Accra.

Bessa Simons doubles as the Vice President of Musiga and an Executive member of GHAMRO.

Bessa is a prolific song writer, keyboardist and singer who has worked with some of the greatest names in West African music such as Pat Thomas, Paapa Yankson, Kari Bannerman, Osibisa, C.K.Mann, Ebo Taylor and Multi-talented Afro Pop Gyedu Blay Ambuley.
