Nervousness Was The Bane Of Black Princesses Defeat To France –Yusif Chibsah

Head of Player Relations with the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), Yusif Alhassan Chibsah has attributed the Black Princesses loss to France in the ongoing FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup to nervousness.

The Princesses opened their World Cup campaign on a stuttering note after losing 4-1 to host nation France in Group A.

A brace from Emelyne Laurent, Helene Fercocq and Sandy Baltimore was enough for Les Bluettes to overcome the Ghana U20 women’s team, though Sandra Owusu grabbed a consolation for Yusif Basigi’s girls.

Speaking to Ohene BampoeBrenya on Happy FM‘s Anopa Bosuo Sports, Chibsah expressed his disappointment in the team’s start to the competition, but insists they can still make it out of the group with good performances in their subsequent matches.

“We didn’t start the game well. The first half wasn’t good. The girls were nervous,” Chibsah told Happy FM.

“Individually we have the talent but they must play as a team. Yusif Basigi must talk to the girls to comeback stronger against Netherlands.”

“I believe the girls were worried about the fact that it was our first game against the host nation.”

Chibsah was asked if he believes the team can recover from the setback to book their place in the next round of the competition.

He said, “We have our destiny in our own hands and anything is possible and we equally have a chance to make history.”

“New Zealand and Netherlands are not impossible to beat. Our performance in the second half was better.”
