Sensational gospel duo, Tagoe Sisters have said that charging to perform at events and selling of their CD’s is very necessary.
In an interview with Foster Romanus on e. TV Ghana’s ‘The Late Nite Celebrity Show’, the Gospel Duo explained that previously, people willingly and respectfully showed them appreciation for their services but currently, their manager handles all bookings for events.
“In the past when we are invited to minister anywhere, we don’t say anything when it is done. They provide something small for our transportation but these days when we go nobody says anything to us they pretend we don’t exist. Due to this, we have employed the services of a manager. So when you need our services, we give you her number to call and negotiate with her,” they said.
According to Tagoe Sisters, they solely depend on music for their livelihood so if event organizers do not appreciate their services, they will not be able to survive.
“We minister in very far places and we transport ourselves to such place, so it’s only nice that you give us something small after everything, and we would humbly accept it. That is what most of us depend on. The bible says those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel. The gospel we also preach through melody must provide us with a living,” they added.
They further added “making of the music costs a lot of money so we need to charge and sell our CD’s so that it will push our ministry forward. The bandsmen we play with also charge us so we can’t pay them if we don’t charge,” they noted.
The evergreen Tagoe Sisters, Lydia Naa Deidei Tagoe, and Elizabeth Naa Koikoi Tagoe are both married with children and have timeless hit songs like ‘M’anya Yesu’, ‘Watua Maka’, ‘Yesu Be Ye Ama Wo’, among others.
