For the first time in the history of Ghana Music Awards, the winner for the ultimate prize Artiste of the year was not announced.
Event organizers Charter House will later today announce winners for Most Popular Song and Artiste of the year at a press conference today.
According to hosts Kwame Sefa Kayi and Berla Mundi the decision not to announce winners for the two categories was due to a fight that broke out between the camps of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
A brawl erupted between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale camps shortly after Stonebwoy was announced as winner for Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the year for the fifth time in a row.
Shatta Wale who had already bagged two awards was seen climbing the stage with his crew which caused Stonebwoy’s camp to react.
With fans confused over Shatta Wale’s intentions of climbing the stage, the “Gringo” singer cleared the air by stating he meant no harm and wanted to congratulate Stonebwoy for his award despite the beef between the two Reggae/Dancehall Artiste
Stonebwoy later used his acceptance speech to alert fans that he will beat Shatta Wale in a one on one fight should it ever happen

When Stonebwoy came on stage to accept his second award for the night, ‘Best Collaboration of the Year’, he apologized for the incident.
“I’m really sorry for the incident that happened earlier on and I only had to react out of natural instincts because we all know how premeditative some people can be. We’ve seen on social media the treats and everything so we couldn’t come in unprepared because anything could have happened like you guys saw,” he said.
Stonebwoy added that “I come in peace and I go in peace and I apologise to the whole masses of Ghana that the Awards is going to continue. Thank you very much for supporting my music, for supporting everybody else’s music…by their deeds we have all seen.”
